Checker Taxi

 
 
 

Checker Taxi was introduced to Altitude through it’s referring partner program.

At the time of introduction, the staff at Checker was looking for a specific technology that would connect their customers to taxi booking agents regardless of where those agents were located.

 

The project appeared simple to start; a widget to bridge voice traffic through “the cloud”, which is exactly the kind of work Altitude Communications would normally do. As the Project Overview was built out, complexities arose with some ageing telecom equipment used for both the booking agents as well as for the day to day phone system for Checker Taxi.  Checker had been working with the Telecom support company to upgrade the platform which was determined to have a steep cost and potential downtime for their 24/7 operation. This was a “bandaid” solution which would require a refresh down the road.

 
 

More detailed examination of the communications services at Checker Taxi uncovered that the company was using several platforms, some old, some new, to deliver:

  • Call recording

  • Call reporting

  • Agent booking and contact centre

  • Administrative phone system

  • Customer management software

  • Database lookup

  • Wall boards

  • Auto routing and call processing

 

Conclusion

After due diligence, Altitude Communications proposed and, working collaboratively with Checker Taxi, installed a communications solution that not only addressed the initial ask of the voice widget, but also replaced the ageing phone system, provided a single pane of glass to replicate most of the other solutions which required their own login and administration. Not only did the solution exceed the initial request for proposal, the price was 70% less than what the original telecom support company was offering.
